Probability

Probability

Definition- When the possibility of an event occurring is expressed numerically, it is called probability.

Probability of event E P(E) = Number of outcomes favorable to event E Number of total outcomes of the experiment

Probability of an impossible event = 0

Probability of a certain or possible event = 1

Probability of the event not occurring P( Ē ) = 1 - P( E )

i.e. P ( Ē ) + P( E ) = 1

The sum of all possible events of probability is 1

Dice questions

Total outcomes of throwing a dice (1,2,3,4,5,6)

Even numbers- Total 3 (2,4,6,)-

Odd numbers- Total 3 (1,3,5)

Prime number 3 (2,3,5)-

Composite number 2 (4,6)

Tossing a dice 2 times Total 36 outcomes

Tossing a coin

Tossing a coin 2 outcomes (H, T)

A leap year or a normal year has 365 days

52 weeks + 1 day

(52 × 7 = 364 days + 1 day = 365 days)
